5 Ways to Help Australian Small Businesses During COVID-19

We’re acutely aware that the current virus crisis is having a massive effect on our local retailers and hospitality. Cafes are empty, shops are quiet and cinemas are ghost towns.

We need to all do what we can to support those hard working small businesses, who need our custom to feed their own families. The benefit also, is that we’ll help avoid the larger shopping centres.

Here is our infographic that shows five ways to help Australian small businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic.

5 Ways to Help Small Business

Again, those five ways to help Australian small businesses, are;

Order takeaway

Our local restaurants and cafes need us. Those global delivery companies often take 20-35% of their costs, and therefore punish these small businesses. You are better off calling and ordering and going to pick up takeaway yourself, if you cant sit in their venue.

Shop during quieter times

If you are practising minimising human contact, then finding a good time when the shop is quieter makes perfect sense. If you are unsure, then call them. They will happily tell you, I’m sure.

Buy gift vouchers

If you don’ t need their product or service right at the moment, then consider buying a gift voucher, to use when the COVID-19 pandemic has settled. This way, they get immediate cashflow and you get a surprise in a few months time.

Like and share on social media

This may not bring local business actual money, but just following, liking and sharing their social media accounts and statuses helps promote them to your social audiences. By doing so, you are helping them reach new people who hopefully may become customers too.

Don’t visit if unwell

Remember that the people who are staffing these shops and businesses, also don’t want the corona virus. Be smart, and avoid leaving your home if you are unwell at all, irrespective if you believe it is COVID or not. It really isn’t worth the risk to them or anyone else.

If you are unwell, please take care, drink plenty of water, eat lots of fruit and vegetables, and listen to doctor advice.
